World Cup 2022: THE BATTLE MIGHT BE TOO TOUGH FOR CAMEROON
Among African nations, Cameroon are probably one of the two strongest teams on paper to do anything at the 2022 World Cup . Unfortunately, the ” Indomitable Lions ” did not inherit the easiest group to get out of the group stage, unlike Senegal for example. The reigning African champion was much better off in the draw as only the Netherlands seem clearly superior to the Teranga Lions .
Sadio Mané ‘s teammates will also cross paths with Ecuador and Qatar , and are therefore the favorites to finish in second place in the group. Even if the Qataris are at home for their World Cup , which will take place between November and December, the quality of the Senegalese is much higher. We will notably find Kalidou Koulibaly , Abdou Diallo and Idrissa Gueye , who play in the biggest European clubs, without forgetting Edouard Mendy in the cages and obviously Sadio Mané in the lead.
Conversely, Cameroon will have to fight hard to hope to get out of the group stage. Indeed, if the Cameroonian team is of quality, the other formations of Group G are also likely to occupy the first two places. Already, Brazil is the top seed and assured, except bad surprise, to take one of the two qualifying tickets. Logically, the “Seleçao” should even come out on top after the three games.
Then, the Cameroonians will have to do better than Switzerland and Serbia , two serious contenders in Europe. For your information, Serbia qualified directly for the World Cup, finishing ahead of Portugal in the qualifying phase. However, the team led by Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting or Vincent Aboubakar could pose some problems for the Swiss and the Serbs and is still aiming for a place in the final phase.
