THE WEAK, BUT INTELLIGENT ANGLOPHONE PRIME MINISTER

“The President of the Republic has appointed in 2019 a weak but intelligent Prime Minister. I remind you that Mr. Dion Ngute spent twenty years at MINREX as a minister delegate. He had as a boss his current Minister of Justice, and in 2018 he knew as a boss this secretary general (Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh),” had indicated Valère Bessala in the Canal Presse program on Canal 2 International.

Finally, the Cameroonian Prime Minister has become a vassal of the Secretary General of the Government and the President of the Republic. The presidency of the republic has just taken a note that totally annihilates the power of the Prime Minister, especially in terms of appointment to the head of state enterprises.

“Because of a certain number of abuses that have been noted in this matter, I have the honor to pass on to you the Very High Instructions of the HEAD OF STATE prescribing the Prime Minister. Head of the Government to ensure from now on, in liaison with the ministerial departments in charge, that :

the resolutions of the Boards of Directors concerning the organizational charts and the appointments of directors and assimilated in public establishments and companies with public capital are as of the notification of the present instructions submitted to the prior approval of HIS PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC, in application of the provisions of laws n°2017/010 and 2017/011 of July 12, 2017, respectively bearing general status of public establishments and public companies;

the recruitment and management of personnel in public enterprises and establishments respect the requirements of balance and representativeness of the sociological components of the Nation,” reads the note.
Clearly each appointment should go through the Presidency of the Republic for approval.
