A rector called John Adekolawole of Federal Polytechnic Ede in Osun State, Nigeria, has been suspended after a bed was found in his office. This bed according to our sources allowed him to sleep at work.

Nigeria: the rector of a university suspended for having installed a bed in his office

Speaking at an emergency union convention, Adekunle Masopa, president of the institution’s Polytechnic Academic Staff Union (ASUP), said the council based its decision on 21 grounds.

According to TheCable, he said: “ Here are some of the reasons given for this action: First, a flagrant dereliction of duty by slipping out of office for about a month. Second, the desecration of the Rector’s much-respected office with the creation of a bedroom furnished with a king-size bed that allowed him to sleep at work. “Bad improvisation of a national diploma double reward program and the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) program in collaboration with a consultant.”

Internet users have also spoken on the subject, several of them hilariously argued that the rector has placed the bed in his office to be able to sleep with his students.
