THE ALL BAMILEKE CONFERENCE SCARES THE YAOUNDE REGIME
The Yaoundé regime, according to the officials of the United4Cameroon platform, has an incomprehensible fear of the All Bamileke Conference Associative Movement, while this meeting took place in the United States.
— “Used to trickery, the regime in place now puts itself in a posture of intimidation of those who have visibly understood that there is only unity that makes strength. Since the organization of this forum on American soil which saw the presence of many compatriots from the Grassfields peoples (French and English speaking), many tongues are loosened to express a fear that should not exist in a serious country.
Organized from September 2 to 4 in the United States, the “all bamileke conference” is a meeting of a large number of Cameroonians from the diaspora from the west, north west and south west regions who have understood the need to come together to conserve and safeguard their cultural heritage. By this also, it is a question of restoring the honors to their various tribal groups which have been lost. This initiative which is very commendable, since it allows this people to be able to meet around a table on common projects should be a real success with public opinion and even within the rulers in Cameroon.
Indeed, if there is one thing that the current government has not yet managed to implement effectively, it is to make it understood that tradition is a fundamental value in a nation and that it is imperative to do everything to save it. “All bamileke conference” is therefore an opportunity for Cameroon to demonstrate its cultural power but also the great strength of its diaspora around the world. However, this initiative is greeted with enormous suspicion by a large part of the public in an environment clearly threatened by community divisions.
This apprehension is completely false, because a people without culture is a people who are slowly dying. It is therefore the duty of the State to set up campaigns to encourage this kind of project from the Cameroonian communities of the diaspora so that the country grows and ennobles”.
