POWER TAKE OVER: BIYA WORRIED ABOUT THE COMING OF EMMANUEL MACRON TO CAMEROON

The French president is announced in Cameroon on July 25th

• He comes in a context where the two countries are obviously not in the odor of holiness

• According to analysts, Cameroon must be wary of this visit
The French president is secretly visiting Cameroon in relation to power take over after Paul Biya. But there is fear he might not be in accord with the choices of Etoudi, but how ever paul Biya might go in for more conventions to maintain his candidate. Paul Biya appears not comfortable particularly with its new relations with China and Russia. There appear alot of political agitations about the coming of Macron.

Since the announcement of the probability of a visit by the President of the French Republic to Cameroon, voices are raised here and there to analyze the contours of this unprecedented visit. Could we say that this visit bodes well or badly for the future stability of Cameroon?

The Yaoundé regime has maintained relations with the Elysée for ages. The upcoming visit of President Macron to Cameroonian soil is therefore obviously part of the bilateral relations between the two countries.
However, it is important to note that for some time the two countries have obviously not been in the odor of holiness because Cameroon has decided to broaden its relational spectrum.
It therefore clearly appears that beyond this bilateral visit, there are undoubtedly other inclinations since France is literally losing ground in Cameroon.

This situation, which is reminiscent of Cameroon’s new proximity to China, has therefore put France in an uncomfortable position. Indeed, according to the INS (National Institute of Statistics) in 2018, Cameroon’s main supplier is China with 18.5% of deliveries. The Middle Kingdom is also the main customer with 23.8%. A real breakthrough

Also, we could also see in this visit a means of pressure of President Macron in the perspective of the political transition which is approaching with great stride. Indeed, for some political analysts, the arrival of Emmanuel Macron in the country of Samuel can also sound the death knell of the end of a regime which visibly has difficulty meeting the needs of Cameroonians in 40 years of unchallenged reign.
While another opinion thinks rather that this visit will aim to consolidate the choices of France on the political future of Cameroon.

Let’s wait and see and the people must remain vigilant.
