Power must go back to the North by Guiba Gatama…Anglophones appear confused in the Republic

Guiba Gatama with his Forum du Grand-Nord” insist power must go back to the North, Anglophones appear rather lost in the politics of the Republic of Cameroon, during a period of intensive rumours about Franck Biya succeeding his Father Paul Biya who has been in power since 1982. The Anglophones appear very hopeless with the political activist and Humanitarian, Barrister Agbor Balla advocating for an Anglophone president. Anglophone politicians and elites seem interested but fear to voice their feelings.

Like several sons of the far north, Guibai Gatama dreams of seeing a northerner at the head of Cameroon. The boss of the newspaper l’Œil du Sahel also claims to be looking for solutions for the (development) problems to be solved and the challenges to be met by the sons of northern Cameroon.

This is undoubtedly the reason why Guibai Gatama announces the organization in the coming months of the “Forum du Grand-Nord”.

“My dear sisters and brothers from the North, many challenges face our regions and challenge us. We cannot sit idly by or act without civic synergy. Alongside the public authorities and other development actors, together and with the competition of all, wherever you are in Cameroon or in the diaspora, we must face them in a collective dynamic, find solutions and pool our energies where necessary. This is why I propose the holding in 2023, of “Forum du Grand-Nord”, writes Guibai Gatama in a post on his Facebook page.

“We will work together in a Republican spirit, to make this framework called to be included in the agendas, an important place of meetings and exchanges, a moment of communion likely to make a contribution to the consolidation of Unity. of our dear country, Cameroon”, adds the man who was suspended from the Executive Committee of FECAFOOT by Samuel Eto’o.

This is not Guibai Gatama’s first initiative to unite the sons and executives of the north. A few years ago, he launched the “10 million Northerners” movement. A movement that was very badly seen by the Biya regime.

In an order dated November 18, 2020, the Minister of Territorial Administration of Cameroon had indeed banned the “10 million Northerners” movement.

The authorities consider that this movement “undermines national unity and the principle of peaceful coexistence between the sociological components of the nation”.
