Paul Biyas’s strategy to counter Ambazonian expansion in the Western Region
The Cameroonian president has appointed two new officials in the North West, slightly reorganizing his military system.
alim, Kouoptamo, Zavion, Babadjou… While the crisis which is shaking the North-West and South-West of Cameroon continues to get bogged down, in the French-speaking region of the West, the list of localities victims of incursions carried out by English- speaking separatists continues to grow. The groupof villages of Fondonera, located in the department of Menoua, was the last to suffer the fury of these groups fighting for the establishment of a secessionist state, called Ambazonia.
On July 2, a dozen armed men landed on the main square, where the large market is held, in this border village in the English-speaking department of Lebialem. After shooting in the air, causing the population to flee, they set fire to two vehicles and three motorcycles. The group takes the opportunity to restock on food and liquor, then disappears into the forests of the surrounding hills.
