Nigerian Female Team aim to KEEP their Dominance over Cameroon Today

The Super Falcons will hope to extend their dominance against closest rivals Cameroon tonight in Casablanca on their way to qualifying for next year’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

While the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon have been something of a boogey team to the Super Eagles, the Falcons have reversed this role with the Indomitable Lionesses.

The Falcons are the top ranked team in Africa with their Cameroonian counterparts the second best on the continent.

Both teams will now do battle in the quarterfinal of the 2022 WAFCON with a World Cup ticket also at stake.

In 2014, the Super Falcons beat Cameroon 2-0 in the final of the WAFCON to win their seventh trophy.

Two years later, the Nigerian women pipped hosts Cameroon in the final to win the continental diadem again courtesy of a Desire Oparanozie winner.

In 2018, the Super Falcons beat Cameroon in the semifinal of the WAFCON on their way to winning their record-extending ninth WAFCON title.

Both rivals have not been playing to form as they failed to win their respective first round groups, but the quality they bring is not be disputed.

Tonight’s clash is a winner-takes-all and as such the Super Falcons and the Indomitable Lionesses have to be at their best if they were to go through to the semifinals, where hosts Morocco await.

It will be match that will see the fearsome attacking prowess of Nigeria up against the resolute defence of the Cameroonian ladies.

Atletico Madrid forward Rasheedat Ajibade has come into her element at the right time and she could be the key to a Nigerian victory in the absence of injured Asisat Oshoala.

Kick-off time is 6pm in Nigeria.
