MILITARY MAN COMMITS SUICIDE BY DRINKING ARATA BOMB…QUARTIER GENERAL WORRIED

Military man allegedly drank poison

scop4.com has learned of the death by suicide of a young soldier in Yaoundé. According to sources, the soldier drank a poison generally used to eliminate rats.

“Sergeant Ondobo Rafael, on duty at the Yaoundé headquarters, had confided a few days earlier to his wife about his intention to kill himself following a dispute with a captain. None of his colleagues were and still are aware of this dispute. The soldier, like a glass of Kadji served himself a sip of poison drowning his worries in an eternal sleep …”, our source tells us.

This case is reminiscent of another that had shaken the web in May 2021. Last year indeed, the daughter of a senior officer of the Cameroonian army killed herself using the service weapon of her father.

Christine Ngo Jock (17 years old) could not contain her heartache and decided to end her life.

According to sources, she returned to her home in PK 12 and seized the gun of her guardian, an army colonel, and shot herself in the head.

She was then rushed to the Douala General Hospital but it was too late. She was declared dead. A painful sorrow for her family. Christine Ngo Jock’s body was placed in the morgue of the Bonanjo military garrison hospital.

Youth suicide rate in Cameroon is on the rise

Youth suicide is a scourge among Cameroonian youth and is of great concern to the Cameroonian public. According to a recent estimate, the WHO places ‘Cameroon among the 10 African countries with the highest suicide rate’.

“These deaths can occur at any age of life and suicide was the second leading cause of death among 15-29 year olds worldwide,” said the World Health Organization.

More than 800,000 people a year die by suicide and the number of attempts is much higher. Every year, millions of people face cruel losses due to suicide.
