Heavy Rainfall: Hundreds of passengers stranded on the Bamenda-Babadjou Road

Heavy rain is the cause of these recurrent inconveniences.
Several transport buses carrying hundreds of passengers were blocked along the Bamenda-Babadjou road. According to corroborating sources, this blockage was caused by a heavy rainfall this morning. A situation that has paralyzed for hours the traffic on this road in poor condition.

The latest news is that measures have been taken by the authorities to unblock the situation. On March 24, 2021, part of the section of this road that connects the two cities of the West and Northwest regions, collapsed following a heavy rain.

Committed since 2017, the construction of the Babadjou-Bamenda road, 35 km long, is stalling. It is financed at 37 billion FCFA by the World Bank. Its construction was initially entrusted to the French company Sogea-Satom, which cited the insecurity created by the Anglophone crisis as the cause of the delay. Its contract was terminated, the road divided into four lots and awarded to Cameroonian companies for its construction, which will resume soon, according to the Minister of Public Works.
