Nations League: France beat Denmark 2-1

The defending world champions, the French blues, were beaten for their first match in the Nations League, this Friday, June 3, 2022, by Denmark 2-1.
Less than a week after the final of the Champions League whose organization was strongly criticized everywhere in Europe and even beyond, France had a double challenge: to succeed in the organization of the match against Denmark and then the blue had to reassure the supporters by producing the game and winning.

If the first challenge was met, the second was not. France was beaten by a valiant Danish team. France will open the score by Karim Benzema in the 78th minute of play. But the Danes will come back in the game thanks to Cornelius in the 68th minute of play. The same Cornelius will finally give the victory to Denmark in the 88th minute.

Kylian Mbappe left with an injury at the break. According to the assistant coach of the blues, Guy Stephan, the striker of the blues “has a problem in the knee”. “I do not know the exact nature but he will undergo examinations,” said the French coach.

For this match, it was Guy Stephan who led the team in the absence of Didier Deschamps, in mourning for the death of his father.

In the other match of Group A, Croatia was beaten at home by Austria 3-0.
