Enormous Losses in the BIR in the Anglophone Regions and Top Ranking appointment in the ARMY
Enormous Losses in the BIR in the Anglophone Regions and Top Ranking appointment in the ARMY
Thanks to an important decree signed on July 14, 2022, the President of the Republic, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, has appointed senior officials to head certain strategic units of the Ministry of Defence.
THE TEXT OF THE Head of State concerns on the one hand the services directly attached to the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, General René Claude Meka, in particular with regard to schools and joint training centres; and the territorial commands on the other hand. Then, finally in the national gendarmerie too. Thus, with regard to the territorial commands of the National Gendarmerie, Generals Elias Toungue and Ekongwesse Divine Nnoko are respectively the commanders of the 1st and 2nd Gendarmerie regions.
As for the 5th Region, its new commander is General
Housseini Djibo. Within the joint military regions, another highly strategic movement is also observed. It concerns the war zones of the country. Faced with the increasingly observed turmoil among the men of rank deployed in the crisis regions of the North-West and South-West; which insecurity ended up reaching the region of West Cameroon through increasingly frequent raids, the guarantor of the republican institutions saw fit to have to put at the head of the fifth joint military region, a man of the ground kneaded experience and who will have proven himself in the mixed multinational force: brigadier general
Bouba Dobekreo. This former general coordinator of the Rapid Intervention Battalion (Bir), and a graduate of the Joint Military School (Emia) in Yaoundé, will thus measure himself against the guerrillas of the separatist groups of the ghost state of Ambazonia to whom, the Elements of Bir are precisely suffering enormous losses at this time. Moreover, to replace this fine tactician within the mixed multinational force in charge of the fight against the Islamist sect Boko haram, the choice of the superior chief of the armies went to the former commander of the international school of war in Yaoundé: Colonel Pierre Loti Tioka promoted to the post of commander of sector n°1 of the mixed multinational force of the Lake Chad Basin Commission.
It is he who will have to complete the meticulous work started since 2015 by his predecessor within the 4th Joint Military Region. The decree of the President of the Republic thus appointing to these strategic positions within the
Ministry of Defence, thus comes the day after a similar large-scale movement that took place at the end of March 2022 and which already redeployed many officials both within the central administration and
in the territorial commands.
