Ambazonians are dismantling the renowned Anglophone health system: kidnapping of a patient in Nso

From burning of hospitals to kidnapping of patients
The unfortunate was going to the locality of Kumbo (Bui, North-West), one of the hot spots of the English-speaking crisis, for medical care when he was kidnapped by militiamen demanding a ransom. The family of Mbouandom Seidou as well as the municipal executive of Koutaba, department of Noun, are on the alert. They fear that if urgent action is not taken, suspected English-speaking separatists could attempt the man’s life.

Indeed, this municipal councilor was kidnapped on Monday, August 8, while he was going to the Catholic hospital in Shisong for his medical appointment. A good source, the kidnapping took place on the JakiriKumbo section, in the morning. The unfortunate Mbouandom Seidou who had left Koutaba, bound for Jakiri, aboard a five-seater liaison car was subsequently, as is customary on this route, transferred to another vehicle for Kumbo. Destination he had not yet reached the next day. Worried, his family was looking for news. It was then that his son received a call informing him of his father’s kidnapping. At the end of the line, the interlocutor demands a ransom for his release.

For now, the mayor of Koutaba, Koutaptou Ibrahim and his family are mobilizing, it is said, for a happy ending. Mbouandom Seidou adds to the list of people kidnapped on this road which has become dangerous and is being abandoned.

“The case here is getting complicated. An old man can no longer even go for treatment without being kidnapped, ”worries a colleague of the kidnapped on the municipal council. It must be said that after the Kouoptamo attacks, fear settled more in Noun, where patients can no longer reach their usual hospitals when they have health concerns. In addition, the separatist crisis dismantled the renowned Anglophone health system, built around hospitals run by churches, the most famous of which in the North West are: Acha, Shisong, Mbingo…

When their facilities were not sabotaged, staff had to flee hostilities, especially as government forces often threatened them with reprisals for providing treatment to suspected militiamen.
