Already winner in 2017 against Marine Le Pen, Emmanuel Macron has again won the French presidential election of this year 2022 , against the same opponent, Sunday, April 24. The outgoing president, according to the final results, won 58.54% of the votes in the second round. Since then, reactions have multiplied on the African continent to welcome this new election of Emmanuel Macron. Curiously, Paul Biya who shines with promptness to send congratulatory messages to his counterparts, shines with a rather revealing silence. Some see it as the latest rapprochement with Russia.

The African Union has congratulated French President Emmanuel Macron on his “brilliant” re-election following his Sunday victory over far-right candidate Marine Le Pen, calling for the continued establishment of “renovated and mutually beneficial relations” between France and Africa.
“I extend my warm congratulations to President Emmanuel Macron for his brilliant re-election,” Moussa Faki Mahamat, the chairman of the AU Commission, wrote on Twitter. “I am happy to continue our commitment with him to build between Africa and France, and more broadly Europe, renewed and mutually beneficial relations,” he added.

Emmanuel Macron received congratulations from Gabonese President Ali Bongo Ondimba: “More than a common past, our two countries have a future to build,” he said. The Ivorian Head of State Alassane Ouattara sent via his Facebook page his “warm congratulations” to Emmanuel Macron, rejoicing to “continue with him the strengthening of the ties of friendship and cooperation between Côte d’Ivoire and France “.
Mohamed Bazoum, his counterpart from Niger, tweeted: “I salute the brilliant re-election of Emmanuel Macron. His experience of international issues in general and the Sahel in particular makes him a valuable partner for us in our fight against terrorism.”

But so far, Paul Biya’s official social accounts are quite inactive on the subject. No message to Paul Biya. Some observers find that Paul Biya is taking a step back from France to consolidate his achievements with Russia, which is becoming more and more a privileged partner for certain African countries.
