‘A NEW DICTATOR IS BORN IN FECAFOOT, THE NAME IS SAMUEL ETO’O FILS – Boris Bertolt
“Less than a year after his election as head of FECAFOOT, Samuel Eto’o shows all the signs of a dictator in the tropics. Because all dictatorships are alike:
1) At the start, driven by popular support, they say they are coming to liberate the people. Eto’o said that he comes to restore transparency and good governance.
2) They surround themselves with a group of courtiers who swear by him. Unable to give him the slightest criticism. Appointment of controversial figures: Ernest Obama, Francis Bonga and others…
3) He manages to install his henchmen in all the finance and security control greyhounds. Markets and contracts made between friends. The new coach chosen by him.
4) He gives many gifts to his devotees. Here increase in fees for members of the executive committee.
5) He modifies the texts to stay in power as long as possible. This time no longer in the name of liberation but for stability. Resolution n13 of the general assembly of FECAFOOT for the increase of its mandate.
6) All those who oppose his ideas are excluded. Guibai Gatama is an example of this.
7) We take legal action against the former governments because we fear that they want to overthrow us: Abduraman Baba Hamadou, Tombi A Roko or Seidou Bombo Njoya.
We cannot fight in this country to enforce democracy, the constitution, the laws of the Republic and we accept that an individual isSamuel Eto ‘o permanently violates the texts.
Fight against the authoritarian and dictatorial drift ofSamuel Eto’o must now be a duty for any Democrat. Because all dictatorships are alike. And they must be fought.
But the dictatorial drift also occurs when the dictator is afraid of something, of the future. He panics. His decisions therefore become crazy (we will come back to this).
